| Introduction | My name is Dennis. I like stuff. All kinds of stuff. I love pop culture, tech/gadgets and gear. I have a small dog named Murray and spending time with him is currently the best part of my day! |
| Interests | Doing stuff. The arts, culture, news and politics. Watching tv/movies, listening to and playing music. Reading. |
| Favorite movies | Anything by Whit Stillman (Metropolitan, Barcelona and The Last Days of Disco). The Godfather I & II are fantastic. Swingers was great, and had an awesome Godfather reference that far too many people I know didn't get. Goodfellas is another fav. Wes Anderson's Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums are favs. I will admit that The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou grew on me and is now a fav. Casablanca is a classic!! Far better in my opinion than Citizen Kane. Psycho - this movie is black comedy at its blackest, not horror or suspense! All right, I'll stop here I could go on for ever! |
| Favorite music | All kinds! I have been listening to mostly independent Canadian music lately. Big fan of Sarah Harmer, The Weakerthans, C'mon, Blurtonia, The Carnations and Luke Doucet, Danny Michel, David Matheson, Death From Above 1979, The Dears, Kathleen Edwards, Feist. There really are a bunch more. Ask me if you want to know. I recently fell back in love with The Pogues, what a fantastic band! So many memories, well blury memories at least! Really digging the Shins right now and My Morning Jacket, the Decemberists and Death Cab for Cutie's latest. Lots more - some of which is too embarrassing to include! |
| Favorite books | I'm putting authors here instead of their books, because I tend to love bodies of work by these fine folks. John Irving, Robertson Davies, Douglas Coupland, Douglas Adams, Hugh MacLennan, JK Rowling, Jon Stewart, and a ton of others I can think of right now. |
Why don't you ever wear a scarf? It doesn't need to be cold outside for your neck to feel naked.
I do wear a scarf. Can I just say that I think that for me this is an example of getting older! On September 10th(!!!) my neck was cold when I was out walking the dog and I wished beyond hope that I'd had a scarf at that moment.
