| Introduction | The most important thing about me is that I'm married to the Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, who is General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the US and Canada, the first woman to lead a major Protestant denomination, now, thankfully, not the only one. She's also the first woman to preach at the National Prayer Service at a presidential inauguration (Obama's) -- a tradition started by George Washington. I am also the father of Bethany, an ordained minister and doctoral student at the University of Chicago, and Chris, a hard-working union man (Teamsters) and college student. For many years I held a tenured chair in Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary (PTS) in Tulsa. I served as dean at Lexington Theological Seminary (LTS) in Kentucky. And I finally quit my full-time job to move to Indianapolis to live full-time with my wife again. Now I write, speak, and teach adjunct, both online and in-person, at several seminaries, including LTS and PTS. |
