Introduction | I was born in the 50's in Bakersfield, California, the third child and third daughter to a family of seven children. We moved to Shell Beach when I was very young and finally settled in Santa Maria, California which I proudly call home. Maui is where I have lived for 31 years. My mother raised us to love music and art, my dad taught me how to be nice. I married young and even though the marriage didn't stand the test of time, I was blessed with two sons. I purposely gave them Biblical names, Gabriel and Jacob, as a reminder to them of their Creator. On Oct. 30, 2009, I officially retired from the Postal Service, a job I had been doing for the past 27 years. This was not my "dream" job when I started so many years ago but the Postal Service gave me the means to raise my two sons, move to Maui and eventually marry my second husband of 30 years. My husband is my best friend and is also my biggest supporter and fan. We are extreme opposites when it comes to our personalities but we have had an amazing life together and I am looking forward to our future as an old married couple. |
Interests | Writing, traveling, books, art, music, gardening (I'd rather be outside cleaning), entertaining, cooking, wine, movies but mostly, creating jewelry out broken vintage bracelets and necklace, shells and sea glass and anything else I can drill a hole in and attach to a chain. |
Favorite movies | Out of Africa, Amelie, You Got Mail and A Room with a View. These are movies I can watch again and again and NEVER get bored. |
Favorite music | I love classical music, jazz, blues and hard rock equally.... from Yo-Yo Ma , Hilary Hahn, Billy Holiday, Edith Piaf, Norah Jones, 311 (I listen to "All Mixed Up" on my IPod and dance when I am feeling down), Led Zeppelin, Fog Hat, The Clash; I am pretty flexible when it comes to music. |
Favorite books | 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez... way before Oprah put it on her list, Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen, East of Eden by John Steinbeck and currently Firmin by Sam Savage. Anything written by Edward Rutherford and anything to do with Paris with the exception of a romance novel ... I hate those publications .... a waste of paper. |
