| Introduction | I was diagnosed with kidney failure in 1999 when I was in college. We didn't know at the time, but I have a disease called Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome that has been giving my kidneys a difficult time all my adult life. My mom gave me her kidney when I was 25, and it worked for about five years. Then my anemia went out of control, and I kept getting hospitalized for rejections. Then on December 22, 2011 an intern suggested testing my blood for TTP, a blood disease similar to aHUS. It led to the diagnosis a few days later. Her name was Dr. No, and I hope to find her again to thank her. I struggled with a failing transplant all year until I finally decided to go on dialysis on October 29th of 2012. It was a difficult decision, and my body didn't adapt well to the treatments. But then I started to feel better as the toxins cleared from my body, and I got stronger every day. My husband, Matthew was approved to be my kidney donor and we had our transplant on March 7th in Iowa! Now we are learning to live a healthy life, and loving being healthy! |
| Interests | I am a Performer, so Theatre isn't just an interest, it's a lifestyle. But I love Pole Dancing, Pin-ups, and nerdy computer games. |
| Favorite books | I am in the middle of the Game of Thrones series. INTENSE. |
What would you name your ballet inspired by the sight of children leaping through a garden sprinkler?
