| Introduction | I served on Altair from June '62 to June '63. I was part of the forward deck crew, was a winch man on the #3 hatch and rebuilt all the upper pulleys while in the yards. I was a MA-Seaman 3 while on board. When I left Altair, I transferred to Epdolant in Norfolk. Married with two adult children. I spent 40 years in the computer industry designing and developing systems for the thrift, banking and hospital segments. Then holding executive management positions in the data center and office products industry. In my last position I had to close our offices and distribution center due to centralizations, the last person I had to let go was myself. Hit by the recession and reluctance of companies to hire a person of my age, I became a professional driver and have been driving big rigs since. |
