| Introduction | I am a retired elementary school teacher with experience teaching several grade levels as well as high school age youth who attended school as a stipulation of their probation. While obtaining my masters in reading instruction at University of Colorado, I began investigating how recent brain science could help teachers. Following my attendance at two neuroscience conferences at Mt.Sinai and Rockefeller University in New York with such world-reknown scientists as Eric Kandel, Antonio Damasio, and Joseph LeDoux, I began tutoring troubled readers ranging from kindergarten through high school. I have been surprised by the findings this wider lense of reader levels has provided. Teachers and parents must step in much earlier than we do with repeated review of a specific set of lessons to prevent little readers from becoming strugglers.
