Introduction Doug Wilson is an ophthalmologist and a life-long baseball fanatic. A member of the Society For American Baseball Researchers, he played baseball through college but his grade point average was higher than his batting average and he was forced to go to medical school to make a living. He shares his love of baseball by writing about the men who played it, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s. He has written five baseball books, about Fred Hutchinson, Mark Fidrych, Brooks Robinson, Carlton Fisk and Ernie Banks. He has spoken at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York and the Louisville Slugger museum in Louisville.
