| Introduction | I'm a native Southern Californian. I studied journalism and worked a myriad of jobs within the media industry: Think fashion writer, entertainment reporter, copy editor, photographer. I did it all. After a few career bumps in the road and a slew of odd jobs, I decided to go back to school and pursue another passion: cooking. I enrolled to the Culinary Institute of America. In 2010 I packed my bags and migrated to Hyde Park, New York. This proved to be quite the challenge, not only was I one of the elder students (most of the people in my classes were post-high school!) but I worked amongst many seasoned cooks. But like any quick-thinking journalist, I adapted to my surroundings almost immediately. My knack for "to-do lists" came in quite handy when we were taught the importance of "mis en place." After my post-first year internship at the San Francisco Chronicle's Food + Wine section, I transferred to CIA Greystone to finish out my degree. Now I'm back in the SF Bay Area, working full-time as a cook. "A Streetcar Named Devour", is a literary nod to Tennessee Williams (I'm a huge fan). This blog serves as a peek into what I'm making in my "test kitchen." |
