| Introduction | What makes Cathie Barker tick? I am obsessed with the ideas of being organized and of being a creative and productive fiber/mixed media artist and writer. That is what I want. I’m a wannabe; I've been a wannabe all my life. In terms of Steven Pressfield’s "The War of Art", I’m an amateur. With this blog, I am “turning pro.” I will show up to do the work every day, no excuses. I will stay on the job all day. I will commit to the long haul. The stakes are high, and I will accept remuneration for my labor. I will not overidentify with my job. I will not be defined by it. I will master the techniques of the job. I will have a sense of humor about the job. I will receive praise or blame in the real world (real world feedback). There it is: I’m putting my writing out there into the world. |
