| Introduction | Since 1982 I have acted as counsel to numerous regulatory bodies, many of which regulate health care professionals. This has exposed me to many areas of the law including human rights, freedom of information and protection of privacy, statutory interpretation, governance, administrative and so on. As counsel I have appeared in all courts in British Columbia. I have prosecuted many regulatory offences, acted as independent counsel to tribunals, handled injunctions in respect of unauthorized practice, and conducted training seminars for inquiry and discipline committees. I also have considerable experience with legislative drafting and have prepared bylaws for many regulatory organisations. I obtained my LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1977. Following articles at Davis and Company I was called to the bar in 1978. I practiced as Crown Counsel in Vancouver from 1978 to 1981 when I joined Guild Yule and Company as an Associate.I became a partner in 1984 and practiced there until 2003 when I commenced practice on my own. Since December 2013, I have been practising in association with Twining, Short & Haakonson. |
