Location Austin and Balsam, Texas and North Carolina, United States
Introduction I'm a retired psychologist who loves to quilt and travel. When our children were young, we took vacations each summer to many of the national parks where we "encouraged" the kids to hike the mountain trails and enjoy being in the out of doors. During that time we visited Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Yellowstone, the Tetons, Glacier (several times), Mt. Ranier, and the Olympic Penninsula. Since retirement, however, my trips have taken on an even more exotic flavor, visiting many European, Central American, and South American countries - even Africa. At the same time I am attempting to improve my Spanish speaking skills which makes visiting those Hispanic countries even more fun. While our travels started out being self-planned and self-guided, lately we have tended toward guided tours and hiking tours. During all of these travels I have enjoyed photographing the interesting designs of the regions (windows, floors, doors, tile and carved wooden motifs, etc.) which I hope to employ in some of my quilts one day.
