| Introduction | I am a doctor of internal medicine, cancer survivor, and author of several books on survivorship. I am also a public speaker, patient advocate, and mother of three. Since my cancer diagnosis in 1990, I've been using my useful perspective as both physician and patient to help people become Healthy Survivors, namely patients who get good care in the modern world while, at the same time, living as fully as possible. I believe that life is good, even when it is not what we expect or want or planned for. Life is good even when it is hard. By obtaining sound knowledge, finding and nourishing hope, and taking effective action, I've been able to make my life a good life. |
