| Introduction | Rachna Gilmore is the best-selling, critically acclaimed author of numerous children’s books with multiple honours and awards, including the Governor General’s Award for Children’s Literature. Her publications include picture books, early readers, middle grade and young adult novels, as well as adult fiction. Her books are sold internationally with translations in French, Danish, German, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, Bengali, Chinese as well as several other languages. Born in India, Rachna has lived in London, England, Prince Edward Island, and now resides in Ottawa, where she continues to plark (play, work and lark) on her weird and wonder-filled tales.
