| Introduction | You don't have to be an aspiring sommelier to appreciate wine. I love to cook, so for me wine isn't a far jump. When I started working at a winery I couldn't name any type of grape. I had tasted red & white wines; I figured that different types of each would be variations all on the same theme. It didn't take long to realize that wasn't the case. Now the more I learn, the more I want to learn :) I think it's in my genes to challenge theories, so when I started with wine it was no different. "Does the glass swirling & sniffing really do anything?" "If you like what's on your plate & what's in your glass, isn't that it?" I discovered that any layperson such as I could have QUITE an experience without diving into the whole culture. You can stay wading by the shore & still get a "taste" of what the experts are talking about! My goal with this blog is to help people who are where I was get to where I'm (still) headed. Cheers |
