Introduction I hate these and have every inclination to leave this box blank but I suppose if I am going to write a blog its necessary to give some sort of insight into the blogger behind it. I am a 19-year-old girl (first insight there, I definitely feel a far way from becoming a woman) currently in my second year of studying History and Politics at the University of York. I am also the deputy news editor of York Vision, the winner of this years Guardian's best student publication award. I am currently leaning towards a career in journalism although, in a typical studenty way, I am currently in the process of "finding myself" and trying to figure out were exactly I will fit best once I am thrust into society with non-existent employment prospects. I suppose the most interesting aspect I can include in an introduction of myself is my nationality. I am half-Spanish half-English but was born in Nairobi, Kenya. Since then I have lived in Spain, Italy, China, India and now England. The places I have lived in have most definitely shaped me and have given me a thirst for the diversity and the life of the world’s cultures and traditions, specifically those in Asia and the Mediterranean.
Interests Ideas, people, journalism and fashion.
Favorite Movies I am a bit of an oddball when its comes to films, in an embarassingly single white female way I am an absolute sucker for romantic comedies. Among my favourites are Notting Hill, Love Actually, Dirty Dancing, Bridget Jones Diary and (worst of all) Clueless. Never one to completely comit to a stereo-type my second favourite genre consists of controversial documentaries among which my favourites are Hearts and Minds, South of the Border, Enemies of the People, Nanook of the People and (a recent addition) I Know What I Saw.
Favorite Music My favourite music varies depending on where I am in my life. Recently I am loving everything Benjamin Francis Left, although I must admit that its only because I at home on vacation and am completely broke and thus homebound so I am feeling especially mellow. I am normally a sucker for my cliche top 30's, some good Kanye West and I love, love, love me some Beatles.
Favorite Books The Chronicles of Narnia, The Kite Runner and the Color Purple have to be among by favourites although I have to admit I haven't read anything since I started my degree as reading anything outside of it sends me into a state of guilty anxiety (although strangely, spending hours on Facebook dosen't have the same effect)
