Introduction Not much in life is completely new, such as the fashions we are wearing now were worn in various ways by people who lived 100's of years before us. Scrapbooking has been around for hundreds of years. I'm positive that the drawings on cave walls were pre-historic mans way of scrapbooking utilizing the tools available at the time. I have a 'smash' journal which I started in 1983- I just hadn't thought to call it that then. In 1984 my husband kept an honest to goodness scrapbook. It has 12x12 pages and has the word 'Scrapbook' embossed on its cover. There are photos, drawings, and programs glued on its pages with dates and stories. To think my husband was scrapbooking for real before I was!! By 1992 I was putting pictures and stickers on sheets of paper. By the year 2000 I had officially decided 12x12 was the way to go and I haven’t changed my mind on that one since. Ten years and a new 'craze' later, my daughters will now ‘scrapbook’ with me. We lovingly call it 'smashing'. How do you suppose this storytelling, record keeping hobby will transform itself in the next 30 years? btw-People are still putting designs on their cave walls; they just use a lot of vinyl doing it.
