| Introduction | I am a retired Computer Science Professor, married, almost 70 years old. I weighed almost 300 pounds when my doctor suggested that I look into the LapBand. I wandered the web for a bit and then stumbled onto support groups. The nearest support group at that time was almost 60 miles away, but I went anyway (it was near a Barnes and Noble Bookstore). That was in February. Two weeks later, I went to another support group meeting suggested by some of the folks at the first group and met two people who were also from Sequim. We three got together for coffee several times in the next month and founded The Olympic Peninsula LapBand Support Group which had its first meeting on April 16th 2008. I attended that first meeting by telephone from my hospital bed, three hours after my LapBand surgery. |
