| Introduction | I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and was an avid camper and hiker with my Scout Troop #345. Regular packing trips in the Sierras and working at Camp Whitsett gave me a taste for the outdoors. As an adult I began riding bikes, and I wanted to combine the two hobbies. My first road trip on my bike was just a couple of days riding from Cambria to Monterey. From that trip I took on larger adventures, and over several summers I toured the Pacific Coast. In total my trips have taken me from Ketchikan, Alaska to Los Angeles, California. Some stretches of Hwy 1 I have pedaled more than once. Often times I ride on my own, and on other trips Ms. Ahlman, a teacher at Castaic Middle School, has joined me. Now it is time to turn my hobby into a fundraiser for the students at Castaic Elementary School. |
