| Introduction | Dani Lima was born in Rio de Janeiro. She has studied contemporary dance, acrobatics, contact-improvisation and theatre, among other disciplines. Her artistic trajectory has been enriched through the years by several workshops with many international artists, such as Thomas Lehmen, Vera Mantero, Olga Mesa, and Juan Dominguez, among others. She was a participant of the New Circus group Intrépida Trupe for 13 years. Since 1997 she has her own company, with whom she has created various performances (Piti/1998; Nato/1999; Digital Brazuca/2001; Vaidade/2001; Do the parts speak of the whole?/2003; Real Life in 3 Chapters/2006). As a choreographer she is interested in inquiries concerning body’s identity, memory and perception, thus investing in transdisciplinary experiences and in a “poetics of everyday life body”. Dani has been teaching at the UniverCidade/RJ since 2001 and has a master’s degree in Theatre. She published the book “Body, Politics and Discourse in Lia Rodrigues’s Dance”. She also has been working in collaboration with many Brazilian artists and companies, such as Lia Rodrigues, Gustavo Ciríaco, Marcela Levy, Michel Melamed, Felipe Rocha and Intrépida Trupe. |
