| Introduction | 20 years ago Andrew Lewis seemed set to become the next big thing in British comics... As first editor of 2000AD fan-comic ZARJAZ he won the National Comics Award for Best Independent Comic. Already a regular reviewer for Comics International he at last became a published writer of Future Shocks for 2000AD. But then he resigned from ZARJAZ, quit writing reviews for CI and stopped submitting stories to 2000AD. Why? Stories surfaced that he had joined a cult worshiping the flecks of spittle that gathered on their leader's lower lip. Those that knew him said he was unlikely to follow any religion that didn't recognise him as the divine object of their worship. Another theory was that he had renounced his leftie pacifist principles and amassed millions designing advanced weaponry for wannabe megalomaniacs. But as former associates pointed out, he had about as much technological know-how as a bar of soap. A third rumour emerged that he was captured by a wounded shape-shifting alien in the form of a young Jenny Agutter, selflessly helping it by providing restorative energy from perpetual sexual congress... so far no-one who previously knew him has been able to refute this claim. |
