Introduction	You’ve found me! Now, how do I introduce myself? I guess I can start with my interests. Beyond science, I am interested in literature, philosophy, and politics. Writing, however, is my primary passion. Strangely, it took me years to figure that out. I didn’t know about it when I went to college to study genetics. Even though I have been writing stories and essays since college, I never thought of becoming a writer. Then again, I became infatuated with neurobiology in college and went to graduate school to get a Ph.D. in neurobiology. Eventually, I came to realize that I preferred writing to anything else, including doing science. In graduate school, I also became aware of the communication gap that exists between scientists and the general audience. To the latter group, science often is a black box, something only the scientists can unlock. I strongly believe this perception is harmful to our society: it makes people apathetic to science and worse, it discourages creative minds from studying science. And hence, some moons ago, I decided to pursue a career in science writing. I hope to demystify and promote science through my writing. -Tanvir Khan
