About me

Introduction Welcome to the tales of a botanist, herbalist, forager, and an irregular mother who chose to move herself and her preteen daughter from urban Ohio to the mountains of rural North Carolina, living at 3,000 feet on the edge of the national forest, learning new plants and skills of country living. This is my search to figure it all out: how to chop wood and keep the woodstove crankin' all night without overheating, to render tallow from the mutton fat I was was gifted, to leach acorns, to balance this life with the needs of modern life and so much more. I'd love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and suggestions. Just leave 'em in the comments box and enjoy this wild adventure!
