| Introduction | Hello, I'm Melissa. It's a strange feeling not to know what to write, but honestly, this category stumps me. I was born in the early 70's in Laramie, Wyoming. My father was absent from my life until my sixteenth birthday. My childhood was turbulent at times yet filled with love, support, and hope. I dropped out of high school at 16 and received my GED in 1989. From there, I eventually graduated with an AA degree in art from Central Arizona College in 1997. In 1998 I met my husband. Within two years we welcomed our first of four children. We had two hospital births and two home births. Each of our children was born in a different town. We traveled up and down the West Coast, and finally flew to Hilo Hawaii where we spent 11 years raising our kids, off-grid and homeschooled. Circumstances forced us to move back to the mainland after our Hawaii home was ransacked and robbed. We quickly found a new home in the hottest of desert towns by the Colorado River. With my daughters grown and my son attending the local High School, I began freelance writing in October 2020. Then California passed the AB5 bill and I found myself, once again, without an income. Thus, the birth of my blogs began. |
