Introduction	This is a record of the efforts of Nigel Farmer and Steve Lovell (Shovel) in completing the 5 week Beijing to Paris Motor Endurance Rally in June / July 2016. Steve Lovell grew up in rural Essex and has lived in Hong Kong since 1996. Whilst he has no professional driving experience, he is blessed with the natural driving abilities of an Essex boy-racer. Nigel Farmer is from Edinburgh and has lived in Hong Kong since 1991. He is an experienced track racer having competed in various Championships in Europe and Asia and a number of 24 hour Endurance Races. The 2016 Peking to Paris Rally is Steve and Nigel’s second rally having completed the 2015 Sahara Challenge in ‘Sexy Lexy’ their Ford Escort Mexico. Lexy is a Mark 1 Mexico first registered in December 1971 but rebuilt extensively in preparation for the Peking to Paris by Dave Boucher of Historic Motorsport Southwest as a tribute to the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally winning Escort. Steve and Nigel’s stated goal is to finish the 2016 Peking to Paris Rally (however they both secretly expect to win or at least fail heroically in trying to do so !)
