IntroductionI think I am, therefore, I am. I think. Although I am a dyed-in-the-wool small town boy, I am intrigued by "big" things and I will always gravitate toward things that are momentous, permeative, original, and oft-regrettingly unpopular most of the time. It is a curse and a blessing and I LOVE IT.
InterestsMovies. I am fascinated by the motion picture business. Good authors (subjective) are "the most." I am interested in physical, emotional, and mental health and fitness in life. I enjoy incorporating abstraction into complex problems as a means of curbing my innate restlessness. Juxtapose my ready appreciation for learning new things in painless ways with my borderline masochistic penchant for hard work and you begin to unravel the confounding sentient being I am.
Favorite moviesI like "The Count of Monte Christo" because I applaud the moral of the story, Guy Pearce rules, and it is a movie that I can sit and watch with my religious grandparents. "Heat" tops the action category, "Good Will Hunting" and "Gangs of New York" drama, "Commanding Heights" documentary, and "Munich" for obvious reasons. I like everything that Judd Apatow is involved in and have an appreciation for guys of "Broken Lizard". Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler are both comedic landmarks.
Favorite musicFrederic Chopin played by Vladimir Horowitz or Jack Gibbons, Neurosis, Nick Cave, Big Business, Ruth Laredo, Sonic Youth, Mozart, Lamb of God, Soundgarden, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Wire, Mark Lanegen, Elliot Smith, Gorilla Biscuits, Incantation, David Murray, Charles Mingus, Coltane, old Pantera...wait, not the feathered-Mississippi Mudflap- snake-resting-across-Phil's-shoulders, old.
Favorite booksI really enjoy contemporary microeconomic theory, particularly theory that rests on Samuelson, Coase, Becker, and Smith. I must be killing my metal friends by saying that, but they are smart lads and I'll bet that if they were being exposed to the the same elements as I, they would be heralding neoclassical economic theory in a triumphant, Udo Dirkschneider-ish way. I like anything by Ambrose Bierce, select works by Gordon S. Wood, Kate Chopin, Tim O'Brien, Lewis Carrol, Joyce Carol Oates, Lawrence Friedman...or works by Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman.
