| Introduction | My love of literature and lyrics came from hearing poems and songs written by Peter Doherty. He uses the power of the word to affect our emotions. From hearing his work, I have gone on to discover other poets and writers and have found that poetry has a way of making ugly things beautiful.Written or spoken, the word has an amazing effect on our emotions. Famous novels, poems, scripts or lyrics have a way of imprinting in our minds. I find it fascinating that to this day famous quotes are remembered such as Churchill’s “We are masters of the unsaid words and slaves to the ones we let slip out.” This also reveals how we react to language and literature symbolising that we are only in control of the written word. |
