Introduction Mark is President of Panoptes Intelligence, which provides market intelligence and consulting services on the U.S. and foreign public sectors. He has previously been Principal Consultant at immixGroup, Research Director at NTT-DATA Federal, Research Manager at IDC-Government Insights, Principal Consultant at FedSources, Inc., and Defense Analyst at Jane’s Information Group. He began his career as an analyst at the U.S. Defense Department. Mark has been an analyst or journalist or editor for more years than he cares to admit. Nevertheless, those years gave him the expertise, experience, and insights to connect the dots and spout off about things that intrigue or irritate him. Mark usually writes about fun stuff, like military affairs, foreign affairs and the Middle East, intelligence, security, government, and science and technology. He loves collecting conspiracy theories, which makes his interest in the Middle East convenient because it provides such a target-rich environment. Two of his mantras are: "Never ascribe to malice or conspiracy theories what can be explained by ignorance, incompetence, stupidity and/or just not paying attention" and "The plural of anecdote is not data."
