| Introduction | Depending on what side of the bed he wakes up upon, the Spotsyltuckian is a progressive traditionalist, lover of ancient liturgy and medieval parish ledgers, a dreamer, a bureaucrat, all of these, none and more. Days when message took precedence over fantastic observation are over, replaced by jazz-burst prose. It remains the 'further clarification of thought,' as Catholic Worker guru Peter Maurin assigned the task to humanity, guided, also, in the immortal words of Stymie, by the ideal: 'we don't know where we're going, but we're on our way.' |
