Introduction I am a researcher in the Department of Philosophy, Durham University. I work on Philosophy of Death, supervised by Professor Geoffrey Scarre. Passionate about Arts Journalism, I have been published in a number of regional newspapers, among them The Press (York), The Sunderland Echo, and The Northern Echo (Darlington). Outside of journalism, I have worked at the Tower of London and for a consultancy in Beijing. At Pembroke College Ivory Tower Society, Cambridge, I hosted lectures by Sir Christopher Hum, formerly HM Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, on the 2008 Beijing Olympics; historian Christina Hardyment on Medieval Chronicler Thomas Malory; and Professor Sir John Barrow on scientific imagery. At the Durham Union Society, I hosted Journalist and former MI5 Intelligence Officer Annie Machon, on the post-9/11 world, the War on Terror, and the role of Intelligence Agencies; historian Alison Weir on Mary Boleyn; and Quilliam Foundation Senior Analyst Noman Benotman, on the emergence of Islamism in the UK. My interests, outside of the Arts and of Philosophy, include the Middle East, Parisian history and culture, International Relations, and the rise of China.
