IntroductionA writer of young adult literature, just enjoying the scenic route in life.
InterestsFolklore, mythology, history, public health, bioethics, environmentalism, kayaking, jewelry making, art, my dogs and all things related to reading.
Favorite moviesAnnie Hall, Once, The Goonies, Pride and Prejudice (both Kiera Knightly and Colin Firth versions), The Princess Bride, all the John Hughes movies, Harry Potter series, LOTR series, Love Actually, The Court Jester, Dr Dolittle (Rex Harrison version NOT Eddie Murphy), My Fair Lady, The Parent Trap (Haley Mills, not Lindsay Lohan), The Cat from Outerspace, Big Fish, Guinevere (Sarah Polley movie), Ella Enchanted, Much Ado About Nothing, Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thomson/Kate Winslet version), and the list goes on . . .
Favorite musicRosie Thomas, Sarah McLaughlan, Ingrid Michelson, Snow Patrol, Death Cab for Cutie, Laura Marling, Bat for Lashes, Joe Purdy, Paolo Nutini, Ray LaMontagne, Dido, Stenphanie Schneiderman, The Be Good Tanyas, Po'Girl, Bond, Justin King, Ari Hest, Tori Amos (especially the old stuff), Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash, The Weepies, Portishead, Adelle, Regina Spektor, Emily Wells, Missy Higgins, Alana Davis, Ani Difranco . . . and that's just the beginning. I'm music obsessed. If I played every song in my iTunes right now, it would play for nearly two weeks. (All legally acquired, I'd like to add!)
Favorite booksI couldn't list them all even if I tried. I have way too many. Instead, I'll list my favorite books last year: The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, Of Bees and Mist: A Novel by Erick Setiawan, The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. And my staples are, The Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. I know two of those are poems, but they have been read and re-read a million times.
