Introduction"When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands." Deuteronomy 24:19 Leviticus adds "poor" to the list. How many of us can really say we feel like we are part of that list? I find myself on that list often, but I also find myself with my own share of crops. Maybe the old phrase, "bloom where you're planted", includes sharing part of our harvests. I've grown up around farmland, never a farmer myself, but one of my favorites is a local farm that allows anyone to come out to certain parts of their fields and pick their own fruits and vegetables from their crops. There has to be some symbolism in that kind of community. I've served in youth ministry, worship ministry, sales and customer service, and one observation I've made over the years is when we share with others even a little of our blessings, no matter how great or small, people grow stronger and God's truest definition of Love is seen richer.
