| Introduction | I call myself Theophilus because my knowledge of Greek and Latin roots give me to understand the name to mean "Lover of God." I might be wrong about that, but that's what I'm holding on to. You might recall that Luke addressed his Gospel to Theophilus, and embracing this name helps me to take a much more intimate possesion of the Word. It's as if Luke addressed the Gospel to the reader of it; the "Lover of God;" and therefore to me directly. It reflects the journey that has lead me to this point, as I strive to leave behind the distractions of this world and to live fully in the Spirit. Of course, I can't claim to be there at the moment, but it is a journey, after all........... |
