Introduction	The name I've chosen comes from "Lord of the Rings," when Gandalf faces down the Balrog in the Mines of Moria. My Hebrew name is Esther (which is related to the word for "hidden" or "secret") Serafina (which means "burning"). This seems appropriate because although I don't usually put myself forward, I do care very passionately about a lot of things. Maybe through these blogs I can share some of these passions, as well as less weighty ideas and opinions, with others.

Favorite movies	Wuthering Heights (Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes), Fahrenheit 9/11, Young Frankenstein, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Spaceballs, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey, Jr.), Sherlock (TV series), Game of Thrones (TV series), True Detective (TV series), Broadchurch (TV series), Dune (2000 miniseries and 2021 movie - 1984 Lynch version, not so much)
Favorite music	A fairly eclectic mix, Jewish, Israeli, contemporary musicals ala A.L. Webber, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban and similar, Loreena McKennitt
Favorite books	His Dark Materials, the Brontës, Jane Austen, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Beginning of Desire (Avivah Zornberg), the Hebrew Scriptures, Dune, A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones)
