| Introduction | I am a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, supported by the Council on Foreign Relations. I spent several years at the Institute for Defense Analyses, including a two-year rotation at the Pentagon and a four-month assignment in Iraq. I was also part of John McCain's foreign policy staff in 2008. I have a doctorate in international relations and live in Northwest DC with my wife and daughter.
