| Introduction | During the summer of 2014, on the way to the Maritime Alps to find a particular 5000 year old rock engraving, my motorbike pilgrimage included the 59 Fountains. I have taken their photo, thrown a coin and made a wish for myself and 59 others and filled a vial with their waters. I always make a point of visiting churches- to light candles, sit in the silence and look at the art and architecture. I have a soft spot for frescoes and paint contemporary work using this ancient technique. I travel alone and generally stay in municipal campsites. Being a single woman on a beautiful motorbike, I meet many people. |
