| Introduction | Hey, I'm Shannon, managing editor for Agri-View newspaper, a statewide farm newspaper in Wisconsin. It’s a great job and I love it. I grew up on a dairy farm in New Glarus, Wis. and loved showing cattle. A 4-H dog obedience project and my love of cow shows transitioned into showing collies as a hobby, which I often refer to as an addiction. Always a farm kid at heart, I've had some quirky jobs that led me in and out of agriculture, but I'm back to stay. Ironically all the years I worked "out" of agriculture I lived in the country on the farm I grew up on. Now that I'm back "in" agriculture I live amongst the "hippies" and the “yuppies” in Madison, Wis., in the Willy St neighborhood - an area I dearly love. The common mantra in the "hood" revolves around green, organic, raw, sustainable, local, family farms and vegan. This prompts a continuous inner tug-o-war for me and my "common sense farm kid" roots... |
