About me

Gender Male
Occupation Professional story teller
Location Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom
Introduction With few qualifications I went from job to job until I became a welder. It offered money but little else. But then I met my partner and had two boys. With their help I moved beyond the nagging feeling that I could have done so much more and they supported me whilst I went back to college, and attained an ACCESS qualification, a B.A, M.A and the first year of a PhD; all in various aspects of English History. I also began working for the Norfolk Museum Service as a guide and freelance educator and it was here that I met many interesting people including Colin Howey who co founded my alternative history tour business; Tangle & Hump, Pedlars of the Past. It was also where I had my first meeting with a real live story teller; Stewart Alexander! Over time he introduced me to telling and we founded Past Imagined, Historical Tale Tellers. It was at this point I ran away from my PhD to become an itinerant teller of tales! We still work together, but the majority of my work now is as the Yarnsmith of Norwich and it will be my visits to varied venues, from the British Museum to Alnwick Castle in Northumberland that will be the main subject of this blog..
Interests Collecting story books, wood carving, making the occasional medieval style six plank chest!
