| Introduction | Swing Set I swingest for pleasure. I swingest with joy. When I swingest with merry I swingest with thee. When I swingest most freely I swingest for me. The year I turned 50 I decided that I would spend the next 50 years learning as much, if not more, than I did my first 50 years. Since I started out my first 50 years by learning to walk, I thought I'd start my next 50 years by learning to run. Five months later I entered my first 5K and finished last - but I finished. Then I thought I'd learn how to swim. Six months later I did my first triathlon. Again I finished last - but I finished! My goal is to compete in three triathlons each year: one through the local YMCA, one in the local lake, and the third at the Empire State Senior Games. In my first 50 years I wanted to be an artist. My life took an entirely different path - but why can't I try to fulfill that dream in my next 50 years? I can't quit my day job yet - but we'll see where this goes! |
