About me

Location San Francisco, CA
Introduction My son was born in 2008, and during the first ten months of his life I felt like a square peg in a round hole, juggling conflicting priorities with limited success. How do you balance work and motherhood? It's anybody's guess. By summer, I needed to find a reset button, so I left my job—and suddenly confronted the fact that I had given up the only thing I knew I was really good at in favor of seven days a week with the most confounding little person on the planet: my darling child. Completely freaked out, decidedly lonely, I decided to take up a hobby: Cooking. Baby Food Cooking. I researched, I read, I walked, I shopped. Feeding my child was a creative pursuit as much as a maternal requirement; it gave me the direction my life suddenly lacked. This blog was born out of that enthusiasm. Babyman grew into a little boy somewhere along the way and got himself a baby sister in Babygirl in August 2011. The blog grew too...Less on the Floor is now less about food and more about life, family, motherhood, babies and children. But really,it comes back to that creative impulse. The writing's the thing: there's less of me on the floor if I have an outlet. I hope you enjoy.
