Introduction | John Forsyth is a scientist, writer, and licensed psychologist in Upstate NY. He is also a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Research Program at the University at Albany in Upstate New York. He travels the world giving talks and workshops to the public and professionals on the benefits of mindful acceptance, kindness, and compassion, and how to harness these skills to help disarm the seeds of human suffering while helping people move in directions that matter to them. He has won numerous awards for his research and teaching. His research and teachings are based on a new approach to psychological health and wellness called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He is a senior editor of the ACT book series with New Harbinger Publications, and has written several popular books, including The Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety, and ACT on Life, Not on Anger). His latest book, Your Life on Purpose, is for anyone interested in learning how to move with the inevitable pains of life and do what truly matters to them. His work has helped foster growing interest in acceptance and mindfulness in psychology, mental health, medicine, and society. |
