Safety and Caring for Loved Ones with Mental Disorders

Introduction	The goal of this blog is to help provide some of the processes taken to keep my Mom and my Mother in law safe at home for as long as they can be home. Our goal was to keep them safe and the home safe, be able to keep track and gain better visibility etc. My mom continues to suffer from Alzheimer's disease for over 12 years. My wife and I with the help of some home health aides were able to keep her at home for over 10 years. Unfortunately, she became wheel chair bound about two years ago so things have changed for her. My Mother in law suffers from recently diagnosed Dementia. Her needs are different at this time and she still does a lot on her own. However, the signs are there that her forgetfulness will require the same things that we went through with my mom. I have learned about these two horrible diseases and there stages over the years. I continue to learn and apply whatever I think can help them. I felt it was extremely important for me to share my experiences and my information somehow so somebody else can benefit from these things. I hope this helps you and your loved one in some capacity.
