About me

Introduction My motives, thoughts, feelings, learnings, mistakes, and personal journey as I start-up a nonprofit organization. I am a pretty good researcher. People constantly ask me to help them find information. I can find good information on almost anything. So, when I decided to start a nonprofit organization last year, I figured it would be easy to research and get all of the information I needed. The research was easy. There is voluminous information, but I never found the real scoop on the trials, tribulations and joys of starting a nonprofit. In December of 2011, the nonprofit officially received 501(c)3 federal tax exempt status as well as registry as a Charitable Trust in the state of California. The process began in February 2011 when I applied for incorporation in the state. Tax exempt status was retroactive to February, but we didn't attempt to raise money because you never know when or if tax-exempt status will be granted. Thanks for reading and I hope my insights and struggles help your journey if you are starting a nonprofit, following a dream or just being entertained by the emotional rollercoaster to living a mission.
