| Introduction | I am the middle child of Don Draper and Betty Draper. I am taking a walk down memory lane and sharing my perspective on life in the 1960s with the Mad Men. You may remember me as being clumsy and accident-prone - The kid who burnt his lip on a hot stove! I am better now after deciding to stay away from stoves after that! Though my wife gives me hell for it! Though my father was emotionally detached, we both shared a special relationship. I worked hard to get his attention and understand him. He used to tell me I was his favorite when he put me to bed most nights. It wasn't until much later in life that I realized why this was so. My father's own baggage related to his father caused him to feel a certain connection to me. It is messed up but special nonetheless. After my parents separated and divorced, I became very close to my stepfather Henry Francis. My stepmother Megan was very kind to me though she wasn't around for very long. I followed in my father's footsteps and became a Mad Man myself (the advertising world on Madison Avenue is addictive). |
