Introduction Yasmin Fedda is an independent award-winning filmmaker working independently, with broadcasters and charities. Yasmin is the founder and co-director of Reel Festivals showcasing film, art and music from areas in conflict behind the headlines. Yasmin spent two months filming in a desert monastery in central Syria to produce MILKING THE DESERT, her graduate film for MA in Visual Anthropology at Manchester University. In 2007, Yasmin teamed up with producers Robin Mitchell and Jim Hickey to make BREADMAKERS, a film which screened at 50 Film Festivals and received a number of awards. She formed Tell Brak Films with fellow filmmaker and photographer Veera Lehto-Michaud to develop and make creative social documentaries and short films. In 2012, working again with Producers Robin Mitchell and Jim Hickey, Yasmin released the 64 minute documentary A TALE OF TWO SYRIAS. The film is a snapshot of life before Syria’s uprising began, seen through the eyes of two people: Salem, an Iraqi refugee and fashion designer in Damascus and Botrus, a monk in a remote hillside monastery. More recently WE ARE BACK (2013) and QUEENS OF SYRIA (2014).
