| Introduction | I used to teach English to teenagers in Newark, NJ, and now I study queer theory, education policy, and new literacies as a PhD student at Rutgers. My teaching practice these days is in undergraduate sociology, which is a great fit for my academic interests and the theoretical groundings I use in my own research. I live in Philly with the requisite pets and houseplants, cobbling a life together by teaching, studying, and writing a little bit each day. |
| Interests | Writing, lit crit, women's studies, queer theory, anything with a tasteful but creepy supernatural subplot, inventing card games, playing fetch with Nadir the Eight-Pound Olympian Feline, sleeping in, protesting, having a garden (this is a VERY IMPORTANT but not actualized interest), travelling to far-off places, driving on the Parkway (maybe this is more of a routine), reading, reading, reading, cooking, and drinking. |
| Favorite movies | Magnolia, Memento, Whale Rider, I Heart Huckabees, Mystery Men, The Royal Tenenbaums, Pride and Prejudice, Little Miss Sunshine, Garden State, Juno |
| Favorite music | Sleater-Kinney, The Gossip, Excuse 17, Heavens to Betsy, The Murmurs, The Butchies, Tami Hart, Melissa Ferrick, Antigone Rising, Team Dresch, Le Tigre |
| Favorite books | I'm a novel junkie, and I love pretty much anything except Jeanette Winterson and Andrea Seigel. A non-exclusive list: Eucalyptus, Possession, Jacob's Room, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Name All the Animals, Bailey's Cafe, Dreaming in Cuban, The Short History of a Prince, Saturday, The Time-Traveler's Wife, Anna Karenina, The Blind Assassin, A Gracious Plenty, Fun House, a Spot of Bother, Rose of No-Man's Land. Poetry and theory lists to follow. |
