| Introduction | My fascination with family history began when I was 14 years old in August 1972 when my grandfather Jack Harris (John Henry Lightfoot Harris 1898-1975) showed me property deeds from his family's English estates. It was exciting to hold parchment documents dating to the 17th century. I felt like I was reaching back across hundreds of years of time and touching the past in a very tangible way. It was fun to touch the signatures and think of the people who signed those long-forgotten transactions. |
