Gender Male
Location Burray, Orkney, United Kingdom
Introduction My wife Pam and I moved to Burray in Orkney in May 2010 from a farm in Staffordshire. I used to live in Kirkwall almost 40 years ago and have always wanted to come back but it has not been possible until now. Burray is a small island of about two and quarter square miles with a population of around 350 most of whom live in Burray village. Although I have heard it said that Burray is a rather unremarkable island, I love it. The people are good, friendly and helpful, it has a bar and a shop so what more could I wish for. Burray is linked to the Orkney Mainland in the north and to South Ronaldsay in the south by roads over the Churchill Barriers so we have the best of both worlds, the feeling of being on a small island but with easy access to the heady delights of Kirkwall.
