| Introduction | My name is Karen and I began to lose my hearing when I was in my teens. Now at age 50 plus I have a severe to profound hearing loss. I wear a hearing aid in my right ear and will have a cochlear implant in my left ear. In April of 2007 I received a hearing dog, a golden lab mix, from Dogs for the Deaf Inc. Cherelle alerts me to important sounds in my environment, helping me be safer and providing me with a better feeling of confidence and safety. |
