Introduction	Kawant Education Society was established in 1986 by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It has been working in the fields of natural resource development, people’s rights, youth, education and livelihood promotion. The people we work, with the Adivasis of the Kawant area, have great wealth in the form of their natural and human resources, but are impoverished because they are denied opportunities to use and develop this wealth. Therefore, we focus on helping people to understand their traditional strengths, and to use these strengths to secure development on their own terms. Our work area covers Kawant Taluka,which is in Vadodara District, Gujarat. It is one of the backward talukas of Gujarat.
