Interests | Emily Rose Michaud is an artist and activist working at the intersections of community development, civic participation, land use, public space, and urban ecology. In recent years, her experimental, participatory, and socially driven approach has resulted in a series of performances incorporating living ‘sproutfits’, a guerilla gardener’s ensemble, an electronic book designed to be reproduced and remixed by others, and the Roerich Garden Project, a three-year land art project in a post-industrial railyard turned urban meadow. Emily has been based in Montreal for over ten years, where she has collaborated with community groups, municipal politicians, city architects, botanists, journalists, and artists. She is a founding member of Les Amis du Champ des Possibles, a citizen-run nonprofit that demonstrates and advocates for the cultural, ecological, and social importance of wild urban spaces. She also holds regular workshops, classes and summer art camps that develop creative and perceptive skills while nurturing and working with living, ephemeral materials. |
